Mount Kilimanjaro is so well situated that you can easily combine your Kilimanjaro climb with a safari holiday in the Serengeti Plains or a beach break on the Island of Spice – Zanzibar, but if you want to do something truly unique in 2015, why not add a 5-Day Gorilla Trekking Tour in Rwanda.

Rwanda, like most countries in East Africa, is easily accessible from Kilimanjaro’s international airport (JRO), and while many flights go via Nairobi, Rwandair offer several direct flights each week that take just one hour and twenty-five minutes.
Rwanda may have received more than its fair share of negative press in the past, but the country has come on leaps and bounds since the genocide of 1994, and its Capital City of Kigali is now considered one of the safest and cleanest cities in East Africa.
During your stay in Kigali, you will have the opportunity to visit the genocide memorial before hitting one of the many shopping areas where you can buy souvenirs and try the local restaurants. On day two of your Gorilla Trekking adventure, you will transfer to the border of Volcanoes National Park, your gateway to Africa’s Mountain Gorillas.
Gorilla Trekking permits are strictly limited to just 10 or 20 per day, so you need to secure your permits well in advance of your trip to Kilimanjaro. You can expect to pay in the region of $750.00 per person per day for Gorilla Permits in Rwanda, but the majority of this money goes back into the national park to ensure that these endangered species thrive in their natural habitat.
Day 3 is the day you have been waiting for, and after an early breakfast, you will transfer to Volcanoes national park for your Gorilla Trekking tour. Your guide will take you deep into the jungle, and once the Mountain Gorillas are located, you will just one hour to admire them and snap as many pictures as possible before leaving them in peace. If your budget allows, you can go trekking again on day 4, or make your way back to Kigali along a Panoramic Route for your last night in the city.
From Kigali, you can fly home to Europe, Asia, Oceania or the Americas, after what can only be described as a holiday of a lifetime.
